Greetings
Any recommendations for 3rd-party photo gallery options?
These would be services similar to flickr that would allow us to upload photos and embed a gallery.
Preferably something that is clean and free of branding, but I'm not sure that’s something we could accomplish.
Thanks.

Curious what folks are doing with this new arena.
1. Are you using APP-manipulated photography in the newspaper, only online?
2. How are you crediting, or describing such?
3. Do you publish the name of the APP, or go into more detail like Hipstamatic's lens and film choice?
4. How transparent does your newsroom want to be?
thanks,

"First, a director of photography is your friend — and your spokesman, your salesman and often, your mentor. But he is a middleman. His job lies between you, and the users of your work, along with a picture editor and various other layers of editors whose job it is to combine the visuals with words."
Rich Clarkson reflects on the role of a Director of Photography, on making good story proposals and more in…

Doug Parker, Photo Editor for The Times-Picayune, will be leading his staff in covering the Final Four NCAA tournament in New Orleans this weekend. Here's a Q&A with Doug about his plan for photo coverage.
How will you staff the Final Four?
DOUG: We will have 3 photographers cover the Final Four - two on the floor, one above. That was the limit the NCAA gave us and we are grateful we got that many since we’re competing for space with…

It appears the push to negotiate a new NCAA credential is gaining allies. If you haven't already, please inform your publisher what's going on so she or he can let corporate (if applicable) know as well.
Here is the latest email from Teri Hayt.
Colleagues,
As you know the NCAA did respond to a…

Both of our fancy Sony video cameras broke recently and it could take months to get them repaired (the parts aren't available). We don't have the money ($3,500) to replace one with a similar model, but we can spend up to $1,000 on a new camera. I would love something with XLR inputs but I haven't found any in that price range. Does anyone have a recommendation for good video camera?
